How to choose the right pelvic floor therapist in eastern Ohio / Western PA?

Not all pelvic floor therapy is created equal. Here’s what we think you deserve:

✅ Advanced, Specialized Training

A great pelvic floor therapist isn’t just a general PT or OT—they have advanced, focused training in pelvic health. Every clinician at Vital Pelvic Health specializes exclusively in treating pelvic health conditions—it's not just a side specialty for us, it’s what we do every day.

✅ Experience Treating Your Specific Issue

Pelvic floor dysfunction can look different for everyone. Whether you’re struggling with postpartum recovery, male pelvic pain, bladder leakage, or something you can't quite describe yet — a skilled therapist will know how to connect the dots and help.

✅ A Safe, Respectful Environment

From the moment you walk through our doors, you should feel safe. Trauma-informed care, full consent, and body autonomy are not optional—they're non-negotiable. Bouncing you between therapists in a busy, loud gym, shouldnt be the standard of care!

✅ A Holistic, Whole-Body Approach

The pelvic floor doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your therapist should also be looking at your posture, breathing patterns, hips, core, nervous system, spine and your every day activities to uncover the real root causes of your symptoms.

What Should an Initial Evaluation and the first few treatments Include?

A proper pelvic floor evaluation is not a rushed or uncomfortable experience. When you come in for your first visit, you can expect:

🩺 A Deep Dive Into Your Story

We take the time to listen. You'll share about your symptoms, your health history, your goals—and anything else you feel is important.

🧠 Education You Can Actually Understand

Our goal is that you leave your first visit feeling empowered, not overwhelmed. You’ll understand what's happening in your body, why it’s happening, and how we can help you heal. You get a VPH folder, action plan handouts each session and a full summary at the end of your initial evaluation.

🧍‍♀️ Full-Body Movement Assessment

Before we even think about internal work, we look at your whole-body movement, including posture, breathing, hip and core function. It’s all connected.

✋ Internal (and Always Optional) Pelvic Floor Assessment

If appropriate and only with your full consent, a nternal pelvic floor assessment gives us important insight into muscle strength, tension, prolapse, and coordination. It’s always your choice. We walk you through everything at your pace and have advanced training in vaginal and rectal pelvic floor assessments for men and women.
